Who We Are

Members come from communities throughout Massachusetts
Founder Eileen Samels shares insight into why she started this giving circle

Our MA Female Friends Giving Circle brings together women from across the Commonwealth who share a common purpose: to ease the challenges faced by women, children, and families in our own communities. United by generosity and care, our members pool resources to create meaningful impact right where it’s needed most. Guiding this effort is our volunteer steering committee, a group of dedicated members who help ensure that our giving circle stays true to its mission as we continue to grow.

Inspired by the growing online community of women in the Facebook group MA Female Friends Over 50, our 100+ giving circle members represent over 50 communities across the state. While this has been an important connection for many in our group, we have grown to include family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues - in short, anyone who shares the desire to build a community of women who want to give back to the greater community in a powerful and impactful way.

Given the diverse nature of our members, we make every effort to accommodate member needs. Our main 'Learn & Vote' gatherings, where we learn about and select a nonprofit to receive our collective funding, can be attended in person or on Zoom, with electronic options for those who cannot or choose not to attend. Our various social and informational gatherings are scheduled on days/evenings, weekdays/weekends, in various towns as well as Zoom.
